We voted in a new president on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Barrack Obama will historically take office in the new year. What a day that will be. I was so thankful to see the majority of American people vote for something different than the status quo. It’s time for a change.
It’s been sad to see some of the reactions to Obama’s victory especially from some people I know. I know that my views may not gel with many of my friends and family, but in the last few days I was surprised to have my faith challenged because I wanted something different. That someone would suggest that I am potentially not a Christian because of the way I voted in a national election was unfathomable to me before this last weekend. I’ve read reactions that sound much more racist than thoughtful in response to President-elect Obama’s victory. It’s so disturbing.
But fortunately I am reminded that I only answer to God about my faith, He is still in control and in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
